The India Association of Charlotte is a nonprofit, non-religious, cultural organization established to serve the Indian Community in the Charlotte area. Its mission is to share Indian culture with the people of the Carolinas and to foster a better understanding of the cultural diversity of India in the local Indian community and the American community at large.

The organization is directed by a volunteer board of trustees and supported by contributions of time and money from individuals and organizations. Activities sponsored by the organization are also accomplished by teams of volunteers. Of all its activities, the annual Festival of India has evolved into an important cultural event in the city of Charlotte.

The India Association of Charlotte started as a small team in 1994. Its original charter was signed by 20 individuals. Over the years it has effectively catered to the cultural needs of over two thousand Indian families in the area and promoted Indian culture among Americans, and it continues to do so today. Members of the Association strive to educate the Indian community about public policy issues of concern and continue to look for new ways to do so. The organization publishes a newsletter and maintains this website.

The India Association of Charlotte was established as an independent nonprofit organization in February 1995 [IRS Registration EIN 56-1907586]. It was granted tax-exempt status in April 1999 under Article 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S. Government.
